    As a wildlife conservationist and safari guide, I recently had the pleasure of welcoming the New Year at Gardens Guest House in São Vicente, Madeira. Nestled amidst breathtaking landscapes, this guesthouse is truly a sanctuary for those seeking both relaxation and adventure. The stunning views from the terrace, paired with the tranquil atmosphere of the surrounding hills, provided a perfect backdrop for reflecting on my experiences and sharing stories with fellow travelers. During my two-week stay, I appreciated the well-equipped kitchen, which allowed me and my companions to prepare meals together, fostering a sense of community. The cozy dining area became a cherished space for laughter and shared meals. Joaquim, the friendly owner, was always on hand, ensuring that we felt welcome and attended to, which spoke volumes about the hospitality of the place. Being only 800 meters from the remarkable volcanic caves of São Vicente made it a fantastic base for exploration. While the guesthouse offers a barbecue and picturesque garden, I found it equally easy to access the local grocery store just a ten-minute walk away.
